Terms of use
Last updated 19 October 2026
- The school finder is free. The Pathway Planner has a 3-day free trial, then costs HK$39/month.
- Stripe handles the card. Cancel in billing before the trial ends to avoid the first charge.
- No school has ever paid us, and nobody can buy a better position.
- We show what schools and the Education Bureau have published. Check anything that matters with the school itself.
- A review is one family's experience, not a verdict on a school.
- Comments follow the community guidelines: no attacks, no names, no meanness, no judgement.
- Use it to choose a school. Do not scrape it, resell it, or use it to harass anyone.
1What this is
HKSchoolPal helps English-speaking families in Hong Kong find and compare schools. The school finder is free. The Pathway Planner has a paid subscription with a free trial. By using the service you accept these terms; if you do not, please do not use it.
It is not a consultancy, an admissions service, or a substitute for talking to a school. We do not place children, we do not advise on applications, and we have no relationship with any school we list.
2The information, and its limits
School information comes from the Hong Kong Education Bureau’s public registers and profiles, and from what schools publish about themselves.
Where a school has published nothing, we say so rather than estimate.
Fees change, sessions change, and a register can be out of date. Anything that will affect a decision (a fee, a deadline, whether a place exists) should be confirmed with the school in writing before you rely on it. We cannot be responsible for a decision made on a figure that has since moved.
3No school pays us
No school has ever paid us and none ever will. Position in a list reflects how well a school matches what you asked for, and nothing else. If we ever show advertising, it will never affect which schools appear or the order they appear in.
3.5Planner subscription and 3-day trial
The Pathway Planner costs HK$39 per month after a 3-day free trial. Stripe collects your card when you start the trial and charges it when the trial ends. Cancel in the billing portal before the trial ends and you pay nothing.
The subscription renews each month until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal. Access continues until the end of the period you have already started. A failed payment may pause access until you update the card.
We offer the trial once per account. We may refuse a trial or a subscription where we see repeated attempts to abuse it. Access is for the account holder and the family using the planner; do not resell it.
Prices may change. We will give notice before a change applies to an existing subscription. Billing questions and refund requests go to hello@hkschoolpal.com. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have under Hong Kong law.
Stripe processes the payment and its services agreement and privacy policy also apply to that processing. We never receive your full card number.
4Reviews from families
Write about your own experience of the school. Do not name individual members of staff. Write about the school, not about a person who cannot answer back. Do not post anything you know to be untrue.
Every review is read by a person before it appears. We may edit a review to remove one clause rather than reject the whole experience, we may decline to publish, and we may remove a review later. Schools can reply, and anyone can report a review, including people without an account.
A review is one family’s experience. We show no average score until a school has at least three reviews, because a single opinion is not a rating.
Signing in with Google tells us an account exists. It does not prove that a child attends a school, and we never describe a reviewer as verified on that basis.
You keep ownership of what you write, and you give us permission to publish it in the app. You can ask us to remove it at any time.
5Comments on guides
Comments are for helping the next parent along, and they follow the community guidelines: no attacks on people or schools, no names, no mean comments and no judgement. That is what you are agreeing to when you tick the box before posting.
A comment posted under your handle appears straight away. A comment posted anonymously is read by a person first and appears only if it passes. Either way, a comment that breaks the guidelines is removed, and it stays removed.
You keep ownership of what you write, and you give us permission to publish it. You can edit or delete your own comment at any time. Editing puts it back in the queue, so a published comment cannot be rewritten into a different one without anyone noticing.
Links, email addresses and phone numbers are not allowed in comments. That keeps the comment section from becoming an advertising board or a place to trade contact details.
6What you may not do
Do not scrape the app or copy its data in bulk, whether by hand or by machine. Do not resell it or pass it off as your own. Do not use it to harass a school, a member of staff, or another family. Do not try to break, overload or work around the app’s security.
7What we can and cannot promise
We work hard to keep the data right and we correct mistakes quickly when we hear about them. But the app is provided as it is: we cannot promise it will always be available, always current, or free of errors.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from using the app or relying on something in it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
8Other people's material
School data is published by the Hong Kong Education Bureau. Map data comes from OpenStreetMap contributors, with background tiles by CARTO. School photographs belong to the schools and the Bureau, and are shown from the Bureau’s own servers. Their rights remain theirs.
If you own something shown here and would rather it were not, write to hello@hkschoolpal.com and we will take it down while we sort it out.
9Changes, and the law that applies
We may update these terms; the date at the top will change. Continuing to use the app means accepting the new version.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and the Hong Kong courts have jurisdiction.
